FR Review:
ABC Language offers intense, yet fun, personalized language instruction for children age's four and up. Classes for the elementary school age revolve around songs, rhymes, and games. Curriculum for older children incorporates interactive exercises, in addition to traditional grammar and conjugation drills. Classes are held at ABC's warm and understated, school-like Chelsea space (think rectangular tables, bare walls, and drab carpeting) or in the comfort of your own home (though there is a one and a half hour minimum for in-house instruction). School programs can also be designed upon request.
It should be noted that the school does not have regular kid's classes with ongoing registration. If you are interested in a group class, ABC Language is happy to develop a curriculum (in one of over twenty languages), but you are expected to find the attendees. Most instruction takes on the form of tutoring (private and semi-private) and makes for an intimate experience with lots of individual attention. What sets ABC apart from other language centers is the uniqueness of each curriculum and the teaching staff. All programs are designed to suit the specific needs of the student(s). Instructors are "native or near-native speakers" and all have a minimum of two years teaching experience prior to working at ABC Language. Pricing is reasonable and varies depending on language and class size. Twelve hours of Russian instruction is $770 (about $60 an hour) for one-on-one study and $475 (about $40 an hour) for a two-person class. Overall, the tutoring dynamic ensures personal attention and intense study. Master the art of homework persuasion and your child should be speaking conversationally within the first six months!
