FR Review:
Michael Rosenberg and Associates brings warmth and livability to clean, tailored interiors. Rosenberg and his partner, Leonard Kowalski, implement designs with strong architectural elements, and as a result Rosenberg and Associates is often able to carry out renovations without the aid of an architect. We're told the designers like "off" colors; an off-green or off-blue–never a dead-on, vibrant hue. These unexpected choices create a dialogue between the room and the eye and serve to hold attention better than cookie-cutter traditional color choices.
Rosenberg’s background includes a degree in interior design from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he is now a visiting professor. He later worked as a designer with William McCarty-Cooper and Jay Spectre. Kowalski studied at the New York School of Interior design and was involved in product development and sales at Clarence House. The two teamed up to form Rosenberg and Associates in 1985. Though the firm has been around for many years, Rosenberg has been determined to keep it small; the company consists of just the principals and two assistants. We hear that Rosenberg is on site at all times and likes to hand-hold the construction. Clients communicate solely with him, and we’re told that his close management has retained many long-term patrons.
Rosenberg’s projects include mostly prewar apartments in Manhattan, but he has also completed renovations in Miami, Cincinnati, Chicago, Pound Ridge and Southampton. He charges an average design fee and markup on fixtures, furnishings and construction. Rosenberg and Associates has done up to eight projects for a single client, and only takes on new clients through recommendations. Look to Rosenberg and Associates for obsessively detail oriented, hands-on designers who see all their projects through to the last coat of paint.
Representative Client Comments:
“Extremely compulsive, a designing genius.” “Approached a very tiny space with such detail and cleverly made it work to our amazement.” “Always returned my call.” “I looked at five different designers and definitely made the right choice. I stopped at Michael after seeing the way he seamlessly worked colors together” “ He finished the projects on time.” “Michael designed my first apartment twenty years ago. I’ve worked with him on five projects. We see eye to eye.” “I was throwing a big party, and the upholstery guy was not delivering. Michael came through, my sofa arrived for the event. He’s so dependable.” “Even before I purchased my new apartment. I asked Michael for his opinion.” “Not a designer to partially complete a project. He needs to be involved in every detail.” “Brilliant with space issues.”
