FR Review:
Clients rave about Bradley Stephens’ elegant yet functional interiors. With a focus on artisan finishes and high-end craftsmanship, Stephens creates a sense of tasteful, lived-in luxury. We’re told that he makes every project a collaborative one, and clients cherish their close relationships with him. After attending the graduate interior design program at Pratt, Stephens trained at Deborah Berke Architects for two years. In 2003, he opened his own firm, and after a series of chance run-ins with Anderson Cooper, Stephens landed his first high-profile design job designing the news anchor’s loft apartment.

Stephens Design Group has 10 employees, but Bradley Stephens is the lead designer and works on every project. Ninety percent of the business is high-end residential interior design in New York City & the Hamptons, but Stephens has also completed projects in Palm Beach, Aspen, the Bahamas and Cabo San Lucas. The firm averages six large projects and six smaller projects at once. Clients praise Stephens’s hands-on approach and extremely full-service mentality. It is said that he goes to every meeting and visits each job site at least once a week. Stephens’s extremely loyal client base is reflected in his repeat projects. He has done more than one project for more than half of his clients, and for many he has done three of their homes.

Stephens is said to be meticulous on budget, and gives clients an item-by-item, room-by-room “recipe” for their home with high-priced and low-priced options for everything. Said to be a big believer in the philosophy of “the Gap skirt with the Prada jacket,” we hear that Stephens is a designer who understands how to prioritize spending. This is not to say that he's a “bargain designer;” he charges a high retainer and an average markup over net, and fees for drafting are billed hourly at an average rate. One satisfied client told us, “Bradley is a rising star and I feel so lucky to have found him before he inevitably gets inundated with clients.”

Representative Client Comments:
“Bradley is always available and to this day when there is an issue, he deals with it immediately.” “My boys sit on the side of the desk chair in my office. When the chair broke, Bradley was there the next day to fix it.” “We live in a building with summer work rules and Bradley was able to get the job done while sticking to these rules.” “My favorite element is the lighting design. Bradley custom built the chandeliers and lights. Whenever anyone walks into the house, they comment on how wonderful the lighting is.” “He really understood functionality. There are lots of kids in my home, and he used all stain-resistant fabrics in the family rooms. You’d never know they are stain resistant though, because the fabrics are so beautiful.” “So full service, nothing too small for him. He even made sure we had the right toilet paper!” “He created a working manual for the house that our housekeeper can use.” “There’s nothing Bradley thinks cannot be corrected.” “My favorite part was that it was a true collaboration. Working with Bradley was a highly personal and collaborative experience.” “People come into my home and tell me how much it looks like me!”
