FR Review:
With a clean take on “mountain resort” design, Brown Design Group brings sophistication to a design style often fraught with kitsch. You won’t find stuffed bears in principal Corinne Brown's designs; she likes to throw away the clutter and refine. You will, however, find warm accents (colors like red and gold) in the interiors. Glowing woods also make Brown's rooms seem cozy.
Brown Design Group has four other employees: a project manager, a bookkeeper, a junior designer and an office manager. They usually tackle twelve projects at once (two of those are on the large side and involve architectural plans). Thirty percent of business is ground-up and Brown works with a lot of families. Most homes designed by Brown are around 4,000 square feet, though some get as large at 20,000 square feet. Brown charges an average hourly and retainer that is deducted from the total budget in monthly statements to the client. She also charges a high markup over net, but when clients spend over $200,000, the markup drops to an average percentile. With a specialization in designing mountain and resort homes, Brown is a must for ski-lodges.
