FR Review:
Patrik Lönn's interiors let natural light into a room and give it a place to play. Described as "modern with Scandinavian zest," his work is clean and well-edited but never boring or dry: strong, clean lines and neutral palettes are given a jolt by contemporary art or a unique accessory. However, more than any particular stylistic flourish, clients marvel at his space planning skills, with more than one reference telling a story about Lönn walking into an awkward room and knowing immediately how to fix it. Clients also laud his ability to adapt to their comments in a creative way, saying he not only respects strong opinions but relishes the collaboration.
A native of Stockholm, Lönn initially came to the states to study interior design at FIT, then business at Pratt. After a brief post-school stint working with Peter Marino, he took a long detour through the world of commercial design, acquiring impeccable project management skills, a handy advantage in the often chaotic world of Manhattan renovations. Eventually Lönn circled back to the residential world, working at a high end firm as creative director for a few years before stepping out on his own in 2007. His firm is very much a boutique: a small staff of employees tackling a small number of large-scale, engaging projects. As such, this is not the company to call for a one-room job or a quick freshen-up. On the flip side, hiring Lönn means you get his undivided attention. The firm charges an upfront design fee and a standard markup on product and construction oversight. Clients often become friends, saying Lönn takes care of the logistics with aplomb so that you can have fun with the process. KB 2012.
