Raised on a farm in Pennsylvania, Jeffrey Erb brings an intuitive sense for natural beauty to the urban gardens of Manhattan. This relatively young landscape designer started his eponymous firm in 2007 (partner Alan Klein, who runs the logistics, joined in 2010), which has quickly grown into a thriving midsize operation, specializing in residential work. Sources say the firm’s gardens are a pitch-perfect blend of order and rugged charm and that Erb, a “genuinely creative spirit” who paints and makes ceramics in his spare time, is bursting at the seams with clever touches to set a terrace garden apart from the pack. The prices are in line with other high-end landscape design firms, maybe even a titch cheaper than the competition. Overall, Erb’s firm earns solid marks as an “up and coming firm with a high level of talent.”
