Finding someone who can not only help you find and purchase a home, but also redesign it to fit your needs, is a difficult task. Steve Somogyi who started out in the real estate business. There, he found that many new homeowners, who can’t afford to pay a premium for exactly what they want, can often stay within budget by remodeling an existing space to fit their needs. Somogyi Group, known for an eclectic, timeless style, specializes getting clients’ homes to function the way they want. When locating a new space, Somogyi can act as a broker to help clients find a new home and create a plan to redesign it to make it work. However, many of Somogyi’s clients choose to use the firm purely for interior design.
Steve Somogyi has a degree in interior design from Harrington College of Design in Chicago. After working in real estate and consulting for several years, Somogyi incorporated his business in 2008. He has two other design associates at the company, but Somogyi is the primary contact and point person for nearly all their projects. The firm works on about twelve projects at once, a third of which are large in scale. Projects are divided equally among single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums. Budgets are indicative of the clientele, and Somogyi group prides itself on offering affordable options and are said to negotiate on a project basis. The business charges an average hourly for design work and a low to average markup over net on fixtures and furnishings. Not the place to go for an introduction to the high-priced world of upscale furnishings and antiques, but Somogyi group is a must for younger couples and families in need of a better-designed space.
