FR Review:
Known for being “pro-client, responsive and responsible,” Capital Craftsmen has a reputation as a consistent contracting firm that gets the job done. Established in 1984 by Liam Egan, the firm does a variety of styles and projects ranging from full apartment gut renovations to custom homes. With thirty-five employees, the company is nothing if not well staffed. Capital Craftsmen has a mobile office on the Upper East Side with a foreman, project manager, demolition, carpentry, tile and stone, plaster and painting crews. (Electrical, plumbing and other specialty work are all sub-contracted out to licensed firms). In addition, to a warehouse in Long Island City and the main office in Great Neck, Long Island that consists of project managers, estimators, and administrative staff.

The company usually does four to five large projects a year, but will take on smaller jobs. Three week projects are the smallest that they will consider and may consist of a kitchen or bathroom renovation. Capital Craftsmen’s focus, however, is full apartment renovations on a scale of two bedroom apartments and larger. Most of their jobs are in Manhattan and range from 2,500 to 4,000 square feet. Recognized for giving good value to their clients, Capital Craftsmen estimates every job upfront and requires a twenty-five percent deposit down with charges staggered over the construction timeframe.
