FR Review:
One of the primary architects of the New American classicism, Jeffrey Bilhuber has clearly influenced the design world. His compositions–featuring streamlined neutrals highlighted by touches of eminence–speak to modern comfort and midcentury elegance. Clients and peers alike regard him as one of the great talents of his generation. Bilhuber has an established look which is elegant and chic, yet simultaneously welcoming. For families, he brings a fresh, modern, yet appropriate spirit, recently incorporating light chintzes upholstered inside-out near antique benches bleached white by years in the sun. While some may say that he is a marketing machine with a very distinctive point of view, his work remains respected by all.
The design firm, established in the nineties, takes on about ten projects at a time. Clients have included Randolph Duke, Anna Wintour, Elsa Peretti, Peter Jennings, Iman and David Bowie, and New York’s City Club Hotel–but Bilhuber is also open to doing less prominent projects. He will do a few rooms, if he feels a connection with the client. His office is said to be very professional and responsive, even six months after a project's completion. Bilhuber wins accolades for being "completely dedicated to getting things done on time and on budget."
Pre-shopping effectively, Bilhuber is not the kind of guy to spend the day at the D&D with clients on a daily basis. Living rooms can easily run in the $300,000 neighborhood, but Bilhuber has also won the hearts of clients with much lower budgets through his knack for mixing "the humble and the high."
