FR Review:
A high end firm with a good reputation in the industry, Comfort Air is on the short list of many of Manhattan’s top residential contractors. In recent years, the company has increased its staff and has taken on significant projects in the Dakota, Trump Tower, and the Richard Meier buildings on Perry Street—as well as many townhouses, Comfort’s original specialty.

Fielding a staff of over forty-five, Comfort Air usually works directly under architects and builders in a design/build capacity, while existing homeowner clients can reap the rewards of the firm’s conscientious service program. The company also boasts its own plumbers and sheet metal experts, and will do “innovative design” and control work. Comfort specializes in VRF technology (a higher grade, more energy-efficient methodology for cooling and heating) and can handle a wide variety of brands and systems, including the popular Mitsubishi City Multi. The majority of their projects allow for extreme levels of remote control, should you ever want to cool down your Park Avenue apartment from your iPad in Venice.

References say principal David Kliers, who started Comfort Air in 1989, is a “hands-on” manager who knows the job. He anticipates needs and resolves potential problems in advance—much more than many of his competitors, industry sources report. The caliber of Comfort’s work is not for those on a tight budget, but for those clients who can afford it, contractors say, “What a difference!”

Representative Client Comments:
“I’ve seen David correct engineers on very technical points.” “He’s more concerned about the client than the architect and the engineer combined.” “As a GC, I can always get information from Kliers that I can’t get from other mechanical subcontractors.” “One of the most professional companies I’ve worked with.”
