Unafraid of mixing undeniable classics with eye-catching conversation pieces, Ashley Darryl weds traditional principles to the free-spirited eclecticism of the Instagram generation (as of press time, her account has 13,000 followers). Her work is fresh and happy, full of clever moments that charm her clients—a freestanding magnifying lens on a reclaimed wood table, a luxurious fur throw in a modern bedroom, vintage oilcans as objets de´coratifs, and more. Darryl is fond of white (as a background or as a theme color for accessories) but hers is not a minimalist’s portfolio–zips of color are employed for discernment. After studying art history and studio art in her native Texas, Darryl came to New York for a year at the Sotheby’s institute.
