FR Review:
Jenny Wolf offers a lively take on traditional that feels more of-the-moment than most “contemporary” designers. Combining sisals, lacquered paint, natural woods and modern art with verve, this young designer creates homes for her clients that feel stylish, comfortable and full of life. Reflecting her heritage, there’s an undeniable Southern character to Wolf's work. But rather than toile and colonnaded porches, hers is the eclectic south of New Orleans, where abstract prints mingle with antiques; less classical, more jazz.

Born into a design-minded family, Wolf’s grandmother was an interior decorator, and her father owned a number of furniture stores. She grew up in New Orleans, then Hilton Head (perhaps explaining the coastal note in her work). After college at the University of the South, Wolf made a northern journey and began working in fashion in New York–including a number of fashion jobs (prime among them: she was manager of Retail Development at Ralph Lauren) before getting a degree from Parsons and opening her own firm in 2011. The RL job was an education in large-scale organizational principles, as well as the value of details done right. Even now, Wolf’s work showcases a retailers’ love of seductive objects, and a knack for the clever little moments that make a room dazzle.

Working out of a jewelbox office in the West Village, Wolf fields five full time employees, taking on a large number of projects–though recently she has been scaling back to “fewer, bigger” jobs. Her process, based around an extensive initial meeting, leads to homes that feel tailor-made, combining clients’ old pieces with new treasures. Clients say working with her is “charming,” “a lot of fun” and “an education on great design." Her prices, based around a design fee and a markup on product, are in line with high-end designers of her ilk. Sources say: “hire now, her star is on the rise." –Fred Nicolaus

Representative Client Comments:
"The design of her office alone convinced me to work with her." "Incredibly empathetic with clients, really understands their needs." "I hesitate to even use the word 'traditional' to describe her work because it feels so fresh." "Jenny is so sweet, but she gets. it. done." "Stunning work." "She knew my taste better than I do."
