FR Review:
In business since 1851, Morgan Manhattan predates the Model T (and even the moving van). Current president–and fifth-generation descendant of the founding Morgan–Jeff Morgan oversees a fleet of vans, roughly 700,000 square feet of storage in seven tri-state area locations, and a sophisticated web-based tracking and inventory system. Still, what clients highlight most is the service, which they say is high level. Crews are described as friendly, on-time, and well-dressed. And considering the fact that Morgan’s training process involves a mock apartment setup (which potential employees are required to navigate while lifting delicate, heavy objects), it’s perhaps no surprise that its movers are also frequently called “uber-professional.” In case of damage, the company has an in-house cabinet shop, meaning that even the slightest scratch can be repaired immediately.

Morgan handles all local moves directly, with all estimates done in person. The main drawback, sources report, is top-of-the-market pricing. Also, given the large size of the firm, it’s inevitable that not all clients receive the same level of service. For the most part though, references commend Morgan as a great option.

Representative Client Comments:
“Very careful, very seamless, very professional.” “It’s a huge company, so not every job is exactly the same, but they have a solid reputation overall.” “Very personal attention.” “I demand the best, and I got white-glove treatment from this company.”

Project Description & Comments:
This company did an awful job with my move. The owner had lot's of excuses for not having the correct number of staff and made no attempt to apologize let alone compensate me for all the problems I endured. In fact the owner was very rude.

Bottom Line:
NEVER EVER EVER USE THEM. THEIR WHITE GLOVES TAG LINE JUST MEANS THEY DON'T LEAVE FINGER PRINTS SO YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE WHEN THEY BREAK AND LOSE ALL YOUR VALUABLES.

Project Description & Comments:
The Greenwich location (Jeff Morgan's company) moved the contents of our home to their storage facility while our house was renovated. They broke glasses, planters, two desks while they were moving (one of our workman actually saw one of their movers push down so hard on a desk that the leg started to crack and he just kept pushing down until it cracked off. Needless to say, when it was time to move our things out of their storage facility, we hired a new mover. We had to pay 3k to them to have them wait their while our new movers moved us out. What we found there was even more disturbing, negligent and beyond pathetic. They had packed all of our things so horribly that our 1. very very expensive antique blown glass chandelier arms were not tied down when they crated it so that the arms all banged together and was chipped to pieces; 2. our antique mercury table (a glass covered a sheet of liquid mercury (highly toxic) was loaded under about 10k pounds of crates so that the mercury exploded; 3. all of our sconces, wall mounts and lamps was broken beyond repair; 4. they lost boxes of our best stemware and china; 5. when we asked where one of our sofas were, they looked sheepish and finally brought down this moldy sofa and said that there had been a leak in their warehouse. After trying to work with the owner to get our things fixed (the chandelier and mercury table couldn't be fixed, and the glasses were long gone) we asked what he was going to do about all the other breakages and he left us a message saying that our message we left him gave him high blood pressure and not to call again. Need I say more.

We are very familiar with this customer's situation. Suffice it to say that there are at least two sides to every story. Our company distributes a customer comment card after every move and the overwhelming majority of the 3,180 cards we have had returned shows that people would definitely recommend us to a relative or a friend. We have been moving and storing for a discerening clientele from the greater New York area since 1851. We will stand on our record.
