FR Review:
This veteran plumbing contractor keeps both clients–and their pipes–gushing. The city’s elite building managers, construction companies and private clients all vie for Mac Felder’s services. In business since 1936 and taken over in 2002 by Amy Breslaw, the firm takes on jobs of all sizes, almost exclusively in Manhattan (there’s a plaque on the door certifying Mac Felder as the first and only licensed, union-affiliated woman-owned plumber in the city) . Their specialty is large residential renovations, but they also have a number of service contracts with some very prestigious Upper East Side buildings. Felder fields a “friendly and helpful staff” of fifteen, reputed to be “very neat,” which is no small feat when working with water. The firm repairs heating systems on occasion. Securing this company’s services is a notch more expensive than average, but fans are happy to pay for the “outstanding” service.
