FR Review:
GF55 is known for its tailored modern geometric designs with linear interior panache. Clients praise the firm for its detailed drawings, swift execution, and "New York quality without the New York attitude." We hear the firm's architects are consummate professionals who listen and respond to clients' needs, while suggesting inventive, refreshing new ideas.

This firm of eighteen has been in business since 1984 and is headed up by principals Leonard Fusco and David E. Gross. Fusco holds degrees from Columbia and Penn, while Gross has two degrees from Penn. About one-third of GF55's annual projects are residential, with the remainder being a mix of commercial and institutional. In addition to its architectural services, GF55 will also decorate the interiors of projects it designs. The body of work includes high-end custom homes, affordable housing developments, senior centers, and retail concepts. Given their diverse client base, they are said to be very proficient at cost management with detailed estimates and alternative design concepts.

Approximately 40% of the firm's work takes place in Manhattan, with the rest in the metro area, Ohio, and Florida. Recent Manhattan projects include the gut rehab of an 8,000-square-foot Upper East Side traditional townhouse and the renovation of a 22,500-square-foot triplex at Trump International. The firm is also known outside of the US for its extensive design of commercial space across Central America. GF55 charges a standard percentage of total construction costs.

Representative Client Comments:
"An excellent New York firm without New York snobbery." "While they can also do more traditional work, they really have their heart and soul into the more modern and mid-century modern genres." "They successfully put a contemporary addition on to a traditional Colonial, and it worked surprisingly well." "Very practical, and they get the job done."
