After training with his father, Fred Agrusa continued the family legacy by opening his own company in 1983. Currently, Agrusa works with all styles of furniture, specializing in antique restoration. We hear that this outfit excels in polishing, tightening, refinishing and veneer, and that in addition to hand caning and inlay, Agrusa will do custom cabinetry on occasion. Antiques dealers say Agrusa responds well to their instruction and accommodates their tastes, while private clients praise him for being very reliable and timely with competitive costs. The firm can do work on site or in its 3,000-square-foot workshop.
Agrusa travels to clients’ homes to provide estimates, for which he charges $50-100, a fee that is deducted from the final cost of services. Those in the trade describe his work as “very good”, and that’s why Agrusa has worked with the famed auction house Christie’s since 1985.
