FR Review:
Hailed as a perfectionist and a connoisseur of fine furnishings, Marcy Masterson is held in great regard by clients. Though interiors may be Russian Neoclassical, slick Moderne, or Nantucket American, all are carefully researched and intellectually focused-- yet user-friendly. As an expert on 18th- and 19th-century English and Continental furniture, Masterson is said to passionately researching and pursuing. Clients report they have a great deal of confidence in Masterson, usually taking her design lead.
After a year with McMillen and ten years with Jed Johnson, Masterson established an independent firm in 1995. This full-service organization of six includes several project managers, but Masterson is reputedly very much on top of every shopping trip, installation, and architectural detail. About seven very large renovations are taken on at a time, with most in the New York area. Many clients have very large collections of antique furniture or important art, but not all clients are collectors. Masterson is said to listen very carefully to requests, but sources note she can be persistent in her quest for design integrity.
A reimbursable standard+ design fee is charged up-front with retail on product. Living rooms are typically well over $100,000. Careful consideration is given on all fronts, and while there are no surprises, projects tend to evolve as new possibilities are recognized. Patrons appreciate the masterful framework and the great effort to purchase components of value.
