As befits a company that keeps antique lighting fixtures alive and well, Dotzel has been going strong since 1943. This family-run business repairs and restores chandeliers, sconces, and lamps by reproducing old hardware, recasting metal parts, and restoring finishes. It also reproduces particularly rare items and sells them in a small Upper East Side showroom. While expert antiques dealers and auction houses recommend Mike Dotzel for his skills and service, some customers find Dotzel's prices and persona over the top.
