FR Review:
Beauvais Carpets is primarily a dealer with a "preeminent collection of fine antique rugs and tapestries." But Beauvais also provides high-quality restoration, appraisal and cleaning services for fine antique, semi-antique and contemporary rugs. Insiders tell us that their gallery is a haven for rug collectors and dealers, with an outstanding selection of rugs and tapestries from 16th- through 19th-century Europe and Asia, as well as custom broadloom carpets that allow custom size and design specifications. The team at Beauvais also sells and installs wall-to-wall carpet.
Established in 1990 by David Amini, the firm will clean and repair only handmade area rugs. Pricing is generally by the job with minimums in the $200-$300 range. Pick-up and delivery is available, but at extra cost. Though the firm deals mostly with designers and architects, it also serves several distinguished residential clients. Amini and his twelve-man team also work with museums and auction houses. With regard to spot cleaning, we hear that Beauvais pre-tests stains and informs the client of the expected results. All repairs and cleaning are done in the company's Brooklyn and Manhattan workshops. Sources say Beauvais' staff members are thorough, polite, and knowledgeable.
Representative Client Comments:
"The definitive source for fine antique rugs." "Exceeded my expectations." "Impeccable taste." "Excellent inventory and great with repairs, too." "Big fan of theirs." "Can be brusque on the phone." "Beautiful selection, incredible quality, and prompt service."
