FR Review:
For all-around good rug, upholstery and drapery cleaning, Cleantex is a well liked,good-value option. Established in 1929 by Paul Eurow, Cleantex is now helmed by John Molla who, along with his brother Tony, bought the company over three decades ago. The firm cleans wall-to-wall broadlooms, fine antique Orientals and Aubussons, drapery and upholstery. One of the few in the city to specialize in flameproofing fabrics, this fifteen-man firm serves residential and commercial clients in Manhattan, all the outer boroughs, New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, the Hamptons and Westchester.
Pricing is per square foot with minimums for on-site cleaning starting at $250 and pickups at $125. The firm is capable of cleaning both on-site and in their 20,000 square-foot plant. There is an extra charge for roll-up and spreading carpets. Molla and his team use Stodart Solution for cleaning–a mineral solvent which is much milder and does less harm on fabrics and draperies than conventional methods. Cleantex’s notable clients include Radio City Music Hall, The Metropolitan Opera, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Sony Recording Studios, Blue Water Grill, Atlantic Grill, Ruby Foo’s and The Supper Club. The firm is a member of the Neighborhood Cleaning Association.
Representative Client Comments:
“Wonderful, cooperative, no-nonsense people.” “If the rug is too dirty they tend to overwork the cleaning job.” “We know it will be done professionally.” “Their quotes don’t always match the final bill.” “Everything always goes smoothly.” “They are getting up there with some of the best in the city.”
