FR Review:
Vicente Wolf is known for his distinctive design style, which includes handsome, strong lines and a noticeably lean palette. Clients appreciate the drama in his work that is created with sophisticated monochromatic fabrics, compelling background textures, sculptural furnishings and careful editing. Supporters note that he is a passionate designer with a true love of the creative process. The firm usually adds its architectural prowess to projects as well, recently amazing a client with a fireplace built into an exterior wall of glass.

Wolf was raised in Cuba and moved to Miami during the revolution. Persistence has paid off for Wolf, who started out folding samples in the D&D showroom, eventually worked with Bob Patino, and established his own business in 1988. While Wolf is clearly the guiding light on each account, there are eight capable members of the firm who serve as project coordinators on each job. Customers include major entertainment executives, investment bankers and appreciative suburban homeowners. While many clients relate to and praise Wolf's signature style, others wish he would incorporate more "family character."

A well-known traveler and insatiable collector of eclectic furnishings, Wolf has a 3,000-square-foot retail space near Hell's Kitchen that showcases these purchases and his line of custom furniture. Many of these products are incorporated into his clients' designs at prices set by the firm. A number of commercial undertakings have also been completed, including L'Impero restaurant in NYC, the restaurant and retail store of Steve Wynn's new Las Vegas hotel, and the executive offices of J Records for Clive Davis. The firm charges a standard design fee, standard markups on products and higher oversight fees. Sisal rugs and over-the-top originals are used with equal aplomb. AD 100, 2000. ID Hall of Fame. KB 1990, 2010. Elle Decor A-List.

Representative Client Comments:
"Vincente is the Richard Gere of interior design. He has the charm and spirit of an artist." "He is passionate about the creative choices. When I was not sold on a brick floor for my kitchen, he came down to my office on Wall Street to convince me with the samples in hand. He was right." "He has a photographer's eye and a clear vision, which he sticks to." "There is often one dark room, which he thinks is mysterious and sexy." "He will clearly state that he is the professional and should hold the painter's brush." "While some of the fabrics are impractical and way expensive, they look amazing." "You basically know the look he will deliver, only it was 100 times better that I expected." "Vincente clearly makes all the firm's creative decisions and is quite available." "It was way easier than I imagined. Expensive, but easy." "He orchestrated a metamorphosis of my home from a jumble of small rooms to something magnificent." "If you don't use Vincente and his team, you can only hope for second best."

Project Description & Comments:
Platitudes of design and color. Vicente is a distinct personality with a matching point of view. He's much lauded by the design press for work that seems to me underwhelming.
