Anthony Baratta has a distinct, energetic, fantastic take on the Americana aesthetic, employing oversized patterns, vibrant colors and an unconventional twist on the expected. His indelible signature (forged in partnership with the now-retired William Diamond) is a new-wave American vernacular—bright, larger-than-life houndstooth, bold stripes, classic-shaped furniture updated with exuberant color, contrasting millwork, plaid rugs and the like. Baratta’s work is renowned for refining Upper East Side townhouses and stately Westchester homes over the past thirty years with dignity and flair. Clients praise the “extraordinarily innate sense of the appropriate” and leanings toward the highest quality materials and outstanding attention to fine details.
The firm is said to have impeccable sources for collectable furnishings (ranging from 18th-century English to 1930s vintage) and “unbelievable craftsmen,” who can reputedly match any historic sample to create the perfect pair. New York City and Westchester projects account for most of the work. Though the firm charges high fees, clients report they are very satisfied with the results.
