FR Review:
Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz is admired by clients and industry insiders for his charming and outgoing demeanor, modern design outlook and affinity for rich finishes. With two master's degrees in architecture and six years as head designer for John Saladino, Noriega-Ortiz's distinctive color-saturated forms highlight his work. Clients (a group that includes Lenny Kravitz and Laura Esquivel) describe the spaces he has created as open, clean, serene and coherent. He is happy to mix Crate & Barrel finds and the client's personal treasures with the finest antiques. While project managers are employed to run day-to-day operations, he is a self-described "control freak" involved with all major decisions.
Noriega-Ortiz works mostly in Manhattan but has a round of other projects throughout the country, especially Palm Beach (he has a house in Florida). He is willing and able to design a bathroom or a 30,000-square-foot house from the ground up. Details are warm and thoughtful, including a recent room highlighting silk embroidery on bolt wool, inspired by the Met's Costume Institute. All fees are by the hour, including consultations. Products are purchased at net.

"He is so sensitive to the client's needs and is happy to walk you through the process." "Ben revitalized our apartment with a depth of convivial neutrals that re-energized the space." "He enjoys leaning toward the funky side of modern, but always exquisitely well done." "Benjamin has a complete absence of ego, yet he carries himself with a quiet confidence." "Modern, yes. Prison-like minimalism, no." "We so appreciated his hourly billing system, which gave us complete purchasing freedom." "Uses his architectural training to create really exciting spaces, well beyond the status quo of today's typical interior design."
