FR Review:
Stephanie Stokes continues to uphold the classically traditional with strong lines, detailed millwork and unfettered tones. Clients say that she quickly develops a design vision that is pursued with focus and energy. Designs often have an English heritage but are said to be brought to life with unexpected intricate patterns, thoughtful accents, and rich complementary colors, based upon customer preferences. Patrons include those from the more prominent neighborhoods of Manhattan, as well as Long Island, Westchester, Colorado, Florida, and Washington, DC.
Stokes started her design company in 1982, after working as a securities analyst for White Weld, a photojournalist for Gourmet magazine, and learning the trade with Mark Hampton and Harrison Cultra. Her varied background has produced a variety of strengths. Clients appreciate the way she embraces their style interests and comment on her energy, efficient professionalism, strong ownership-- and her sensible, clever choices. The majority of clients enjoyed the design process and are very happy with the result. We're told Stokes can take complete leadership, bringing the project to final move-in condition for out-of-town clients. However, clients with less design experience or less-formulated views can occasionally feel overwhelmed by the process.
Stokes charges a standard up-front design fee and retail on product. Oversight charges are in the standard range. However clients note that her experience, knowledge, and organizational skills often allow for expedited design decisions, and since Stokes is personally involved with every client, the fees seem more than reasonable. Many clients use the firm repeatedly and recommend it liberally.
