FR Review:
Praised as much for his trustworthy nature as his excellent architecture skills, David Bergman has earned the respect of his loyal clientele. Clients refer Bergman to friends and family for projects that range from one-room renovations to sprawling single-family homes. We hear Bergman's style is fairly contemporary--warm modern--with one-of-a-kind craftsman touches and interesting materials and textures. Working in a close collaborative environment with Bergman, clients say the architect takes their ideas very seriously.

A small shop of two to three people, Bergman established his firm in 1985. We are told Bergman is quick to solve problems that may arise throughout the course of a project and is a meticulous manager of any endeavor he undertakes. The firm works in Manhattan, the Hamptons, and Westchester and Fairfield counties. Without sacrificing the look of luxury, green practices - including recycled, sustainable, and energy-conserving products - are successfully implemented into each project. Clients say they trust Bergman to the point of leaving large projects in his hands unsupervised for long periods of time, with the confidence that he will deliver on time and on budget.

Bergman received a B.A. from Yale in architecture and economics and an M.Arch. from Princeton. He has taught at Parsons for over ten years. Clients and colleagues alike have lauded him for his technical and aesthetic skills, and his ability to combine the two seamlessly. The architect also designs his own line of "Fire & Water" lighting and furniture. The firm allows clients to choose between paying an hourly rate or a percentage of construction, which can slightly exceed standard percentages on smaller projects.

Representative Client Comments:
"A talented architect, but also a good person." "He's almost too easy to work with." "His teaching skills clearly came through in my experience as I asked him many questions that probably drove him crazy." "Has a tremendous amount of patience." "A progressive style, with lots of unique touches that reflected my interests." "His inspiration with lighting is particularly wonderful, and was well integrated into the design."
