With professional verve, a classic sensibility, and strong integration skills, Tonin MacCallum has been working with high-end interior design clients for over 40 years. Designs are often traditionally based with a dynamic twist, but sources say the designer is very flexible in delivering a wide range of styles. Reportedly, contemporary is executed with the same excellent flair as traditional. Clients say MacCallum spends a great deal of time up front, learning about their lifestyles and interests.
Clients range widely in age and in the scope of their projects. There is no minimum and MacCallum is acknowledged for her willingness to take a project in stages. While most of the work is in the New York area, past clients have enticed her to journey to Florida, California, New Orleans, London, and Venezuela for second homes. Clients report that MacCallum is very much in control of the tradespeople, who know to remove their shoes before entering a client's home.
Budgets have been known to be specific or to evolve. Pottery Barn is used as well as finest custom upholstery, and the client's own furnishings are often incorporated into the plans. MacCallum's frequent travels often lead to unique resources and the discovery of "little jewels." A design fee is charged at higher hourly rates, with retail on products.
