If you (or someone in your home) is excited by speakers the size of Mack trucks and audio cables made out of rare metals, Sound by Singer is a must. In business since the days of the eight-track tape, this firm has built up an international reputation–its 3,500-square-foot Chelsea showroom is a bit of a mecca for audiophiles. Much of the equipment is certainly pricey, but principal Andrew Singer is known for a “no nonsense” attitude and ability to see the performance behind the hype. As a result, clients praise his ability to find solutions at any budget and rate this firm a good value. Singer and his employees are occasionally called on by peers to consult on projects, a testament to their “audio guru” status.
