FR Review:
Paula Perlini wins the respect and loyalty of clients with excellent resources and strong creativity. When one client wanted to wait to find the ultimate Oriental rug, Perlini had a facsimile of a Sultanbad Persian painted on sisal. Now the client considers the sisal rug one of her favorite possessions. Perlini is known for her intermingling of the fine and the found, creating friendly environments comfortable for adults, children, and pets alike. Rooms tend to be quite traditional, with distinct colors offering depth and character.
Perlini spent her student years in Italy and Switzerland, studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and absorbing the artistic wonders at hand. Returning home to Cincinnati, Perlini worked in interior design locally, then headed to New York to work for brother-in-law Mark Hampton for almost a decade, eventually becoming the head of design. Perlini then formed a design partnership with Alan Tanksley for six years, and ultimately went out on her own in 1993. Currently, there are about five large projects going on at any one time, generally in Manhattan and the surrounding areas.
While Perlini usually encourages the client to invest in some excellent upholstery and some interesting antique accents, she is good about designing custom repo casegoods to help meet the budget. On top of the process and the economics, Perlini has a New York-type design fee and charges classic retail on product. Contented clients say they would not hesitate to recommend Perlini to a friend.
