Don’t let the name fool you—The New Wood Company will bring in a brand new floor, but it will also make your old floor look new again. Since its founding in 1982, the company has been installing, repairing, restoring, sanding and finishing, plus creating custom designs, inlays and borders for wood floors. Owner and founder Peter Downs also does full-service consultations for both domestic and exotic woods. The firm serves a predominantly high-end residential clientele in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester and southwest Connecticut. New Wood is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association and The National Trust for Historic Preservation.
