Alex Papachristidis functions as a translator, turning his clients’ ideas into completed visions with sophistication and wit. He began at the Parsons School of Design but, after being overwhelmed with commissions, never graduated. Now Papachristidis has an established roster of clients, to whom he is “loyal and doting.” Recent projects include a contemporary interior for a young businessman; a hip loft for a downtown entrepreneur; and a Park Avenue residence in traditional French style for an established older couple. Clients laud Alex Papachristidis Inte- riors for mixing bargains with rare antiques.
The firm’s style is tailored to individual clients' interests and budgets, but most often is classically based with whimsy, and full of rich details. Supporters speak very highly of the designers’ focus on service and back-office capabilities. The firm charges a standard design fee (more if it is involved in architectural plans), retail on products, and standard oversight fees. Clients say that the firm is as adept with small projects as with larger ones. In recent years, Papachristidis’ star has risen–he published a well-received monograph entitled The Age Of Elegance, and has established a lively and extremely popular presence on social media.
