FR Review:
Known for her thoughtful designs reflecting a classic English sensibility with all-American comfort and zest, Priscilla Ulmann has built a steadfast clientele. Strong, warm hues of red, green and yellow are often featured on traditional silhouettes with Continental flair. Quirky pieces with personality may also be seen, with few perfectly matched pairs. Ulmann is said to work with the customer to realize their design goals, within the framework of “classical with patina.”

After graduating from the New York School of Interior Design and working as a fashion editor for Town & Country, Ulmann ran her own design firm for over twenty years before joining McMillen in 1995 and Parish-Hadley in 1997. In 1998, she revived her firm with a team of three. About twenty projects are underway at one time, ranging from the recovering of a few chairs to substantial new construction. Most projects are in the New York area, with many in the Hamptons, where Ulmann's new office is located. Celebrities seek her designs, as do the most socially prominent. Clients are delighted to receive excellent attention from Ulmann, whom they describe as “very buttoned-up” and smooth.

The firm charges a standard retainer and retail on product. Products are said to range appropriately in price, depending upon the setting. Ulmann is highly recommended for an updated traditional look that is always “in good taste.”

Representative Client Comments:
“She absolutely opens your thinking and vision but is very sensible on budgets and timetables.” “She would not consider showing you a piece unless she likes it enough to use it herself.” “I would highly recommend her for all classical motifs, but she does not like modern design.” “Priscilla will look forever for you in the antiques shows to build up a collection of accessories that look as if they were created by you over time.” “Priscilla likes things in order but recognizes the reality of everyday living.” “She can decorate as well for men as for women.” “She will creatively work with you to make a great effect with less money.” “Priscilla took the time to really learn how we used the space. She earned our trust and confidence.”
