FR Review:
Founded in 1930, Vitanza is dedicated to the restoration of fine wood furniture using handcrafted, traditional methods. The firm has been involved with some extremely high-profile jobs, including the chair of Pope John Paul II and the Sotheby’s auction of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis estate. Principal Michael Maytel has gained a reputation for being one of the premier experts in the restoration of 20th-century modern design, specializing in Art Deco and 1950s furniture.
We hear the firm’s craftsmen excel in both contemporary and antique restorations and are adept with lacquer, polyurethane, antique white, French polish, custom color and custom finishes. Clients also praise the line of custom-built furniture. Clients say Vitanza uses only the finest materials to reupholster furniture, from fabrics appropriate to the period to horsehair stuffing and coil springs. Sources call Maytel the top in the business and say he works closely with clients, designers, architects and showrooms on both large and small projects. The firm was incorporated in 1986.
Representative Client Comments:
“Michael is simply the man for the job. I’ve had nothing but good experience with him.” “Michael is fabulous. The best.” “Thorough and has respect for the piece’s history.” “Satisfies an affluent clientele that expects only the best.” “I could not be happier with the result.” “I look forward to working with Michael on future projects.”
