FR Review:
Paradoxically for a company over two hundred years old, Phillips has a distinctly contemporary focus. A leading international auction firm (behind only Sotheby’s and Christie’s in size) with offices around the world, it holds regular auctions of modern and contemporary art, 20th-century design, photography and rare jewels. The firm’s appraisal specialists will provide private and corporate clients with formal written valuations on anything from a single item to full-house contents for insurance, probate, trusts and estates. Phillips’ New York office conducts free walk-in appraisals and valuations, but online submission is increasingly the “only way to go.” We hear the only thing this firm undervalues is its own time—prices are said to be a great deal.

Representative Client Comments:
“A little more specialized than Sotheby’s and Christie’s, Phillips corners niche markets and dotes on them more.” “They know the contemporary market better than anyone else.” “You won’t get a big marketing campaign, but the staff works hard to make up the difference.” “Good service, good prices, good people.”
