FR Review:
Timothy Haynes and Kevin Roberts create modern distillations of classic design that are spare, elegant and inviting. After defining handsome architectural backgrounds, comfortable upholstered furniture is selected, ranging from 18th -century to mid-century modern, suiting the interests of the client and the setting Finally, well-edited accents and artistic expressions are added to the composition. Clients speak glowingly about the partners’ careful planning and their considerate, delightful natures.

Haynes and Roberts founded the firm in 1991. Haynes, a registered architect, obtained his M.Arch from Harvard and worked for Robert A.M. Stern. Roberts holds advanced degrees in cultural anthropology and previously worked for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in Geneva, Switzerland. Since their very first project appeared on the cover of Metropolitan Home in 1992, they’ve never looked back. Recent projects have included large gut renovations on Park Avenue as well as Cape Cod, Sagaponack, Boston, Palm Beach–not to mention the interior architecture and decoration of a 24,000-square-foot cha^teau in the Loire Valley.

Typical projects start around $500,000 and go up from there. The firm is willing to work on a standard design fee plus product commission, but most clients prefer a flat fee based on estimated overall cost. This allows the team to deliver the product at net and “go to bat for the client,” negotiating on the high end and interspersing Crate & Barrel when appropriate. Patrons also report that they develop wonderful, personal relationships with the principals, who are highly accessible. Elle Decor A-List.
