FR Review:
“Always deferential to the client,” this contractor “redeems the profession” for anyone who has ever had a negative building experience. William Paster will take on complete renovations or just a few rooms, as well as ground-up residences anywhere in Manhattan. The firm often works closely with architects, who praise its skill in executing finely detailed, complex projects.
We hear that the “calm, patient, considerate” Paster, who started the business in 1997, is admirably “good at negotiating the relationship triangle of architect, client and contractor.” A carpenter by trade, Paster started building theater scenery off-Broadway, which ultimately led to his role of general contractor. Paster assembles a group of 30 “amiable, trustworthy and polite” crew members, and manages the project personally on site. His firm also elds a woodworking studio for ultra-custom architectural millwork. Sources tell us there is no layer of bureaucracy–Paster is happy to give out his personal cell phone number and keep everything moving with a deft hand for scheduling and efficiency. While the bulk of the firm’s business is complete gut renovations in the $2 million range, they will take on the occasional smaller project.
