With joie de vivre balancing focus and professionalism, Keller Donovan knows how to keep the process moving and fun for the client. With an appreciation of the historic and a love of contemporary flourish, Donovan is noted for a sophisticated approach that "does not look decorated." He favors tailored lines, comfortable furniture and colorful geometric shapes that either coordinate or juxtapose. Donovan studied at Parsons and then held apprenticeships with Barbara Darcy, Tom O'Toole and David Easton. His client base is centered in New York and the southeast (his second residence is in Miami).
Donovan is known to be resourceful, with an eye toward economical solutions, successfully mixing Hyde Park or Pottery Barn with clients' existing furnishings. He also enjoys finding wonderful objects in Europe. Donovan does everything himself and wouldn't have any other way, focusing intensely on client service, according to his many supporters. He can start with just a few rooms or coordinate an extensive renovation.
The firm works with a design fee and a Reasonable markup over net on products. Living rooms are often in the $70,000 arena. References say Donovan knows exactly what is appropriate for their budget so there are never any uncomfortable conversations about economics. Even other decorators say they would happily hire him.
