FR Review:
foley&cox delivers a look that is inviting, sophisticated and tailored to the client like a couture gown. In all cases, the firm applies an assured touch, combining tasteful colors, clean lines and generous helpings of natural light for rooms that are charming and appropriate–picture a custom sofa in pale cream, an area sisal and a view across the serene blue of Sag Harbor. Sources say principal Michael Cox is capable of a variety of flourishes and worldly touches upon request (his extensive travels have taken him to England, Bali, France and Chile) or an elegant take on classic American design, both sure to please.
Before setting up shop in 2002, Cox was a longtime Ralph Lauren veteran, having spent ten years in product development and furniture. With a staff of twelve, foley&cox can offer their clients an elevated level of service. The firm has been known to hire a chef to prepare an elegant dinner on move-in day, or to curate a playlist of songs to fit the walkthrough. Clients tend to come away from their experience with a sense of excited engagement that goes beyond simply having a beautiful home—many are on their second project with foley&cox. Prices are commensurate with the high quality of custom pieces and the strong caliber of service. The firm generally is found on larger, full-scale projects, but can do smaller jobs using existing pieces. A versatile team, their work has taken them from clients’ homes to yachts to private aircraft to foreign retreats. In all cases, the firm is praised for finding great sources (through the Ralph Lauren network and beyond) and for completing work “on time and on budget, to the last decimal place.”
Representative Client Comments:
“I needed an older home to feel young and fresh without losing its character—they totally got it.” “It doesn’t feel like a designer went to town on our house, it feels like us, but better.” “They found an clever way around a problem with some off-centered windows, using window treatments to make the room seem square—it was brilliant.”
