FR Review:
Insiders say Smith River Kitchens is a name to watch out for. A strong architectural background forms the backbone of this young company, helmed by founders Erica Broberg (an architect) and project manager Scott Smith. Broberg established Smith River Kitchens in 2000, frustrated by kitchens that didn't "flow with the house's architectural structure." With a staff of three architects and one kitchen designer, the company serves mostly residential clients in Manhattan, the Hamptons, and Long Island. From designing the actual kitchens to choosing the color palette to fabricating the cabinetry and millwork to picking appliances and finally orchestrating the installation process -- Smith River can do everything. However, the firm will happily work with the client's architect or designer. Pricing is usually based on a flat rate per project. The firm doesn't scoff at mid-range projects and will tackle an $18,000 kitchen with the same fervor as a $200,000 one. Although installation is subcontracted, everything is heavily supervised by Smith himself. Priding itself on its rigorous design process and architectural background, the firm has a steadily growing list of satisfied high-end clients, who claim that the prices are a "good value" for services that are unquestionably "top-of-the-line."

"Took time with us to go over the details."
