FR Review:
A practitioner of clear, restrained and elegant minimalism, Todd Haley most often develops a monochromatic palette that provides an elutriate backdrop for art, objets and antiques. The vast majority of the firm's work is residential, with a tailored style and an urban calling. In recent years, Haley has been using antiques sparsely to achieve a more reflective modern. Clients in Lake Forest are satisfied, as are their urban counterparts.
Haley studied interior architecture and art history, and embarked upon couture fashion with The May Company. He soon found his interior calling with some of the top architects and designers in Chicago, and founded this four-person firm in 1992. Haley takes on projects big and small, as long as there is a shared vision. Insiders tell us he handles roughly six to eight new projects each year, with up to twelve projects at any one time. He wins strong marks for a hands-on, deep commitment to each client, remaining fully engaged throughout every phase. The body of work is mostly centered in Chicago and the North Shore, but also includes successful undertakings in Telluride, Aspen, Naples, Fisher Island, LA, Palm Springs and New York. The firm delineates a standard upfront retainer, and standard hourly rates and markups on all goods and services. Haley is said to be effective at working with budgets which can be defined upfront or evolve, with living rooms typically in the $100,000 range. He thoughtfully and effectively mixes CB2 with museum quality antiques.
Haley’s considered engagement with clients often results in a return run. His style evolves with the client’s journey, and his passion to create, be it a penthouse at the St. Regis or a starter home in Lake Forest. He has been a guest speaker with the New York Times Designers Series at the AD NYC Home Show, and his own residence was featured on “Open House.”
