FR Review:
Clients praise Burns & Beyerl for its uncanny ability to maximize space within a home while making rooms feel warm and intimate. References tell us that the firm is extremely respectful of and sensitive to clients' input, no matter how detailed, and is religious about incorporating it into the result. And, as much as Burns & Beyerl is known for accommodating its clients, it also has a reputation for being assertive and commanding in managing general contractors' budgets and timelines -- a combination of qualities that has gained the firm enormous trust with clients. The vast majority of Burns & Beyerl's projects are single-family residences, including approximately three new residences a year along with numerous renovations and additions, most of which are on the North Shore.
We are told the firm values versatility more than a particular style of architecture. Clients confirm Burns' mantra, "It's all about the client,"and say he ensures that the firm remains dexterous and flexible enough to turn visions into reality, regardless of style. Steven Burns received his Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University; his partner, Gary Beyerl received his degree from Syracuse University. The pair created this eight-person firm, which has been in business since 1993, after working separately at SOM, Krueck Olsen and Booth Hansen (see reviews).
Some clients report that the firm's pricing is below what they expect to pay for the superb quality of its services. Clients highly recommend the firm and many seek Burns & Beyerl's services time and again.
Representative Client Comments:
"We interviewed several big-name architects and in the end, we felt Steve Burns would give us the house we wanted." "We've built several houses and this is by far our best experience." "Not a hammer, but not passive." "We asked to pay him more that what was in the contract!"
