Hylan Design wins enthusiastic praise from references, which concur that this firm is one of the best in the Chicago area. Principal Ted Schultz, who studied woodworking and cabinet-making at Western Michigan University, founded Hylan Design in 1986. Hylan continues to impress clients with its multi-use built-in cabinetry, although the company can create the full range of custom millwork. Schultz and his staff of 10 are adept at designing all furniture styles from traditional to contemporary, and typically use an array of select domestic, exotic and figured veneers and solid woods. The company is particularly noted for its expertise with multi-medium design and both clients and industry peers tell us that Hylan Design produces some of the highest quality work in the industry. But clients should be prepared to pay, because the company's work does not come cheap. The prices have not discouraged the firm's high-end clientele and Hylan Design continues to be a first choice for many designers and architects who work in Chicago's upper echelon.
