Manhattan’s swank decorators have only the fi nest things to say about decorative painter Osmundo Echevarria. We’re told that whether he’s painting an intricate marquetry design or revamping a beloved piece of furniture, Echevarria and his studio artists “have a masterful grasp of all kinds of painting techniques.” Old and neglected furniture is transformed with antiquing, gilding, distressing and marbleizing. The firm’s reproductions of chinoiserie scenes are especially notable. If that’s not enough, we hear the lifelike murals and painted floors are also splendid.
Cuban expatriate Echevarria fled his homeland in the 1960s, and went on to receive his degree from the School of Visual Arts. He opened his own firm in 1992, and today leads ten craftsmen. Sources tell us a “visit to his studio is a must.” Clients also say Echevarria stands by his work and meets tight deadlines. Costs are upper-end.
