When Globe Custom Woodwork rose from the ashes of a devastating fire two years ago, it re-emerged as an up-to-date company that married its original old-world craftsmanship with more advanced equipment and improved efficiency. This not only saved, but also enhanced, the company's reputation among Chicago's top builders. This rebirth is a credit, they say, to Globe's proprietor, Steve Wholgemuth, who began the business in his two-car garage in 1980.
