FR Review:
This "very well respected" team has built its muscle in high-end custom homes and remodeling while growing to an industry standard over the last twenty years. Finton Construction undertakes a large slate of projects, all upper-end and strictly residential $1 million-plus tear-downs or gut renovations from Laguna Beach to Santa Barbara. A Newport Beach office handles smaller projects starting at $300,000 in and around South Bay. Partner Dan Tontini helms the Santa Barbara operation. Having built over 125 custom homes across Southern California, Finton Construction clearly holds a venerated place in the trade.
Clients tell us the firm displays an "extraordinary strength in three areas: field supervision, management support and executive leadership." Laptop-ready and business savvy, a field supervisor steers each job. The firm boasts an army of 30 such individuals. However, founder John Finton and Tontini participate at a micro level, from the conception of the design to weekly meetings. We hear Finton and his associates are "cool under pressure and honest to a fault." The firm has been recognized as a top-ten remodeling contractor by Remodeling magazine and was nominated as Custom Homebuilder of the Year by Custom Home magazine.
All work is cost plus the fee determined by the budget and complexity of the project. While Finton charges a pretty penny, supervisors are praised for "watching every penny as if it were their own."
Representative Client Comments:
"They are available from 4:30 AM to 10 PM any day." "John helped me to research materials and suppliers, which I feel have ultimately enhanced our home significantly." "We have never worked with a nicer group of people on any project." "Able to problem-solve without pointing fingers." "The results exceeded our expectations—the home has the integrity of a centuries-old villa."
