FR Review:
Clients tell us this firm's "tactile, humanist and livable" modern designs "cater to the senses." Lewis Schoeplein creates interior spaces that are quite spare in detail, yet rich in color and natural materials—and bathed in natural light. For the majority of its projects, the firm also designs everything, from cabinetry and flooring to interior colors and lighting.
We hear principals Toni Lewis and Marc Schoeplein work shoulder to shoulder with clients from concept design to moving day. The husband-and-wife team opened the firm in 1998 and together they currently oversee a staff of six. Lewis holds architecture degrees from UC Berkeley and UCLA while Schoeplein collected his from UCLA and UConn, respectively. Schoeplein previously worked for the firm of Moore Ruble Yudell, while Lewis worked for Frank Gehry.
Regularly at work in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Westwood, Brentwood and Manhattan Beach, the firm takes on retail, corporate and civic projects—including a number of fire stations throughout LA—as well as residential jobs. Lewis Schoeplein most often handles renovations and additions, but it is also active in ground-up construction, with mid-sized budgets.
