FR Review:
Fresh on the American scene (but certainly no stranger to the faux-finish world) is Patrick Bancel, a low-key, understated and modest artisan whom clients describe as “a master.” Originally from France, Bancel studied and worked alongside icons of the decorative painting world for eighteen years before bringing his company, A Trompe L’oeil, to the United States. Bancel’s natural ability has been refined by practical experience, and patrons toast him all over the world. A true artist, Bancel has also put his brush to fine-art canvases, some of which hang in galleries across Europe and the United States.
Bancel studied the Dutch masters and honed his Old World technique working as Assistant Director of the famed Van Der Kelen Institute of Painting in Brussels. Today, he works for himself, taking on projects in and around New York and Los Angeles in every imaginable decorative discipline: faux finishes, trompe l’oeil, paintings on canvas, aging, glazing, murals, gold leaf and much more. Bancel is said to possess the kind of dedication to his craft that is rare in this country, and clients say they are “thrilled” to have found him. The excellent prices seem very reasonable for these “works of art.”
Representative Client Comments:
“His knowledge of Old World techniques is not often seen anymore. It is a breath of fresh air to see this dedication.” “Patrick not only has the pure talent needed for top projects, but his personality and demeanor make you want to work with him again and again.” “A real can-do attitude.” “Clearly a master at his craft, with great vision and superior skill. He is a pleasure to work with.” “My living room has been transformed and enriched beyond my highest expectations.” “Patrick is extremely likable, modest and reliable. A real find.”
