Tried and true Plotke Plumbing has been laying pipe across Los Angeles since 1959. No job is too daunting for these plucky plumbers—with three trucks on the road, the firm takes on everything from servicing clogged sewers, repairing gas lines, and re-piping high-end kitchens and baths to installing high-efficiency tankless water heaters. Seventy-five percent of Plotke's work is service and repair, and the balance falls to re-pipes and remodels. The firm works within a twenty-mile radius of its West Hollywood location. We hear that word of Plotke's excellence gets around the neighborhood in no time, and it's not uncommon for Plotke technicians to be dispatched to several jobs on the same block in the same day! In 1987, the firm passed through the hands of original founder Jerry Plotke to longtime Plotke employee Mario Sanchez. Today, his son, Mario Sanchez, Jr., runs the firm with foreign-fixtures expert and new partner Lynn Shirly. Sanchez meets with clients and provides estimates while Shirly supervises quality control in the field. The firm is small, and we're told its crew of four is both highly skilled and client-friendly. The outfit is a family affair: Sanchez's wife keeps order in the office, while his brother runs a branch of Plotke Plumbing down in San Diego.
Clients say someone always picks up the phone at Plotke during office hours and that plumbers remain on call via pager after hours. Customers have even been talked through problems over the phone. We hear the firm sticks to its appointments and will always call ahead if there's a problem. The firm's rates are competitive, while its services blow most of the competition out of the water.
