FR Review:
Blessed with an exceptional eye for detail, Lewin Wertheimer garners favor amongst clients and colleagues designing homes that "look as if they have always been here and should be here." His meticulous renderings and designs span an array of vernaculars, from Mediterranean to Mission, Craftsman to Italian villa, as well as expertly assimilating rustic and contemporary styles. Clients appreciate Wertheimer's "high energy" and find him a "very balanced, discreet team player." We're told the boutique-style firm’s conscientious approach to each stage of a project, including its budgeting and accounting, is described as "second to none."

Wertheimer attended USC School of Architecture and also studied at the University of Madrid and in Florence, Italy. He hung his shingle in 1993 and since that time has maintained a small, focused team reassuring their clients that he’s not just the name on the door, but involved in every phase of their project. We understand he blends the tried-and-true with the latest technology in his drawings, using both hand-sketched schematics and computer-aided design construction documents. The firm’s plans are said to be “remarkably thorough and detailed,” which not only helps with the bidding process, but also throughout construction leaving little in question. In addition to offering white glove architectural design and project management services, Wertheimer also takes on consulting work assisting with a particular aspect of a larger project.

The firm's work can be seen most often along the coast in places like Malibu, Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades, although Wertheimer has also worked on projects in Hawaii and Spain. Wertheimer and his team take on roughly 12 projects at a time, masterfully managing each stage whilst maintaining an exceptional level of client-centric service, the likes of which he has built his reputation on. Residential remodels start around $500,000 and comprise about half of the workload; the rest of the focus is on new construction, with homes averaging around $4-5 million. The firm's full-service fee is hourly through schematics then a “reasonable” percentage of construction cost, according to clients. For the dedication, experience and attention to detail on each project, Lewin Wertheimer is “worth every cent.”

Representative Client Comments:

"He is not pushing the envelope of modern architecture, but delivering warm, livable spaces that clients love." "He did my neighbor's amazing house, and I knew immediately I wanted to use him." "Fabulous accounting system. Tracked everything week by week so we were never surprised." "His process is so complete that he reduces the mistakes and cost overruns that bedevil many building projects." "May take him a little longer to turn around the detailed drawings up front, but it's so worth it." "He will point things out that are not worth the money." "He was always there and can see what needs to be done." "Lewin is so kind, so clear, so honest. He is never stressful."
