FR Review:
Since 1920, Thomas Rug Cleaning Co. has been a family-run ordeal, headed today by Hagop Torkomian and his son, Harry. As a boy growing up in Armenia, Torkomian learned the history of rugs and how to care for them from the old woman who lived next door. Though he went on to study electrical engineering, he never forgot those early lessons. In 1974, after several years in Lebanon, where he learned to repair carpets, Torkomian moved to Los Angeles to help the operation at Thomas Rug and restore its Armenian heritage; he formally took over the business in 1990.
Today the firm sells, repairs, restores and cleans all types of antique and contemporary area rugs, tapestries, needlepoints and kilims. It also cleans and restores sisal, seagrass and viscose rugs. Thomas Rug's amiable service is reported to be a favorite among well-heeled homeowners, architects and designers, and the firm has twelve full-time employees to serve its clients. It is a testament to his excellent reputation that many of LA's top rug dealers send out their cleaning and repair jobs to Torkomian's shop.
Thomas Rug Cleaning works on both commercial and residential projects, charging by the square foot for cleaning and by the hour for repair. There is a minimum charge for each project. Within a 20 mile radius, estimates are free and so is pickup, delivery and moving of furniture. We hear this company is reliable and efficient. Sources say the firm's moderate prices and terrific service make it a first choice for repeat business.
Representative Client Comments:
"Trustworthy and reliable." "Cleans like a dream." "Will go out of their way to please." "My first and only choice."
