Joan Dineen is appreciated for her ability to integrate architecture and interior design seamlessly. The rooms are "calm and unassuming," yet fresh and becoming in their modern simplicity and use of natural materials. The lines are lean and the palette monochromatic. Clients feel that she creates rooms that are a pleasure to live in, and that have longevity. Moreover, supporters say she is involved in every detail and makes the process fun.
The firm is a small operation of two architects and two interior designers plus support staff. Principal Joan Dineen, a graduate of Cornell and Columbia Universities, has been doing residential projects for over fifteen years. Most of the firms work is done in Manhattan, although they have done work in Miami, Cape Cod, Seattle, and the Hamptons. Most projects include a mix of architectural and interior design work, although the firm is happy to work in coordination with an owner's architect.
Current work includes residences at the Time Warner Center, the Dakota, and other projects in Manhattan and the Hamptons. The firm bills architecture and interior design services under separate contracts, with standard percentages of construction or purchases charged for fees.
